CAIRO — The CAF Confederation Cup final will be contested by Egyptian side Zamalek SC and Algerian club Union Sportive de la Medina d’Alger, better known as USM Alger.

Dates and venues

The CAF Confederation Cup final will be played over two-legs.

The first-leg is scheduled for May 9 at the Stade du 5 Juillet in Algiers (19h00 GMT), with the return-leg to follow on May 16 at the Cairo International Stadium (18h00 GMT).

Prize Money

The winners of the 2025/26 season will receive USD 4 million, a 100% increase from last season, while the runners-up will earn USD 2 million.

History

  • Zamalek’s record in the CAF Confederation Cup

Winners: 2019 and 2024

Zamalek’s first title came in the 2018/19 season. After losing the first-leg 1-0 to RS Berkane, the Cairo side responded in the return fixture and took the tie to a tense penalty shoot-out, which they eventually won 5-3.

In 2024, history repeated itself against the same opponents. Zamalek lost 2-1 in Morocco but won 1-0 at home in Cairo. That was enough to secure the title on the away goals rule, giving them a second Confederation Cup crown after another dramatic final.

  • USM Alger’s record in the CAF Confederation Cup

Winners: 2023

USM Alger won their first CAF Confederation Cup title in 2023 after overcoming Young Africans in the final. Beaten 2-1 in the first-leg, the Algiers side turned the tie around in the return match with a 1-0 victory.

That result was enough to secure the trophy on the away goals rule, giving the Red and Blacks their first Confederation Cup crown.
