Besiktas have temporarily withdrawn from negotiations to sign Mohamed Salah after talks broke down over financial demands, sporting director Onder Ozen said.
Speaking at a news conference, Ozen said the Turkish club had held three discussions with Salah before negotiations moved to the financial terms of a potential deal.
“Up to that point, everything was going smoothly,” Ozen said, according to Goal.com.
He said the situation changed when financial negotiations began on July 21, with requests emerging that threatened to bring the talks to a standstill.
“Our president has taken an unpopular decision and decided to withdraw temporarily from the negotiating table in the Salah deal,” he said.
