MADRID — FC Barcelona has confirmed the permanent signing of Egypt international Hamza Abdelkarim on a deal running until 2029 after the youngster impressed during his loan spell with the club’s reserve team.

The Catalan giants informed Al-Ahly SC that they had activated the purchase option in Abdelkarim’s contract, securing the young forward on a permanent deal for the next three seasons until June 30, 2029, the club said in a statement on its official website.

The 18-year-old is currently with the Egyptian national team at the World Cup, having featured in both group-stage matches against Belgium and New Zealand.

Abdelkarim joined Barca during the winter transfer window and made an immediate impact after completing the necessary registration process.

He marked his debut on March 8 with a goal in a 2-2 draw away to SD Huesca.

The forward went on to score six goals in 11 appearances.
