Air transport rating organisation Skytrax has named EgyptAir “the World’s Most Improved Airline for 2026”, marking a significant milestone in the national carrier’s ongoing modernisation and development programme.
The award was presented at the World Airline Awards 2026 ceremony in London, attended by senior figures from across the global aviation industry.
Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, accepted the award on behalf of the airline.
EgyptAir also recorded a substantial rise in Skytrax’s global rankings, climbing 22 places to 46th worldwide, up from 68th in 2025, securing its position among the world’s top 50 airlines.
The carrier was ranked second among African airlines and received additional continental honours, including Best Cabin Crew in Africa and Best Economy Class in Africa.
EgyptAir’s cabin crew also ranked 20th globally in the Skytrax awards.
The ceremony was attended by Captain Sherif Khalil, Assistant Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, Captain Mohamed Elian, Chairman of EgyptAir Airlines, and Soheir Moussa, Chairman of EgyptAir In-Flight Services.
The Skytrax World Airline Awards are based on an annual global passenger survey covering airlines worldwide, alongside assessments conducted under the organisation’s established methodologies.
Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh El-Hefny, congratulated EgyptAir’s leadership and employees, describing the airline’s entry into the global top 50 as an important milestone.
He said the achievement reflects ongoing development and modernisation efforts and the wealth of Egyptian expertise capable of delivering results in line with international standards.
Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, Captain Ahmed Adel, said the recognition reflects the efforts of employees across EgyptAir’s sectors and subsidiaries, as well as ongoing initiatives to enhance services, address shortcomings, improve workforce efficiency and adopt advanced technologies and digital transformation.
The recognition builds on EgyptAir’s recent Skytrax successes, including being named Most Improved Airline in Africa for two consecutive years, Best Cabin Crew in Africa and Best Economy Class Catering in Africa.
