The Supreme Committee for Security and Environmental Inspection of Airports headed by Pilot Montaser Manna, Deputy Minister of Civil Aviation, inspected Aswan International Airport as part of the follow-up and evaluation of the security, health and environmental situation at Egyptian airports.

The committee started its tour by inspecting the travel and arrival halls, passport counters, the quarantine office, isolation rooms, cafeterias area and baggage belts.

The committee also followed up on the precautionary measures, especially the sterilisation operations that are carried out on an ongoing basis and applied inside the travel and arrival halls at the airport, as well as procedures for sterilising bags and belts, ensuring that the highest standards recommended by international health and aviation organisations are applied.

The committee also inspected the meteorological room, the surveillance camera control room, the control tower, all security measures, the surveillance camera system inside and outside the airport, the external gates and the parking lot.

Saudi Arabia named as Chairman of Regional Aviation Safety Group in Middle East

The member states of the Middle East Aviation Safety Regional Group, affiliated with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), elected Saudi Arabia as the Chair for a three-year term, during the ninth session of the group’s meetings hosted by Riyadh.

The Kingdom’s election as head of the regional aviation safety group for the Middle East came in appreciation of its prominent role in enhancing aviation safety and its efforts in supporting the regional plan for air safety and achieving its goals.

The Regional Aviation Safety Group aims to develop an integrated data-driven strategy and implement a work program that supports a regional safety management performance framework.

This approach is designed to reduce the risk of commercial aviation fatalities in the Middle East region and to enhance state and industry safety initiatives in line with ICAO’s global plan Aviation Safety (GASP) and regional goals and priorities articulated in the Safety Strategy for the Middle East.
