Saudi Arabia named as Chairman of Regional Aviation Safety Group in Middle East
The member states of the Middle East Aviation Safety Regional Group, affiliated with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), elected Saudi Arabia as the Chair for a three-year term, during the ninth session of the group’s meetings hosted by Riyadh.
The Kingdom’s election as head of the regional aviation safety group for the Middle East came in appreciation of its prominent role in enhancing aviation safety and its efforts in supporting the regional plan for air safety and achieving its goals.
The Regional Aviation Safety Group aims to develop an integrated data-driven strategy and implement a work program that supports a regional safety management performance framework.
This approach is designed to reduce the risk of commercial aviation fatalities in the Middle East region and to enhance state and industry safety initiatives in line with ICAO’s global plan Aviation Safety (GASP) and regional goals and priorities articulated in the Safety Strategy for the Middle East.
