The Ramadan tournament for five-a-side football, organised by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, kicked off under the patronage of Minister of Civil Aviation Mohammed Abbas Helmy with the participation of 15 teams representing various companies affiliated with the ministry.
Tarek Abdullah, president of Eurosport Club, affirmed the club’s readiness for the championship by maintaining the pitches and locker rooms.
He pointed out that the tournament will be held under the supervision of an international refereeing crew from the Egyptian Football Association to ensure its organisation and adjudication are at the highest standards and within the spirit of sportsmanship among the competing teams.
This falls within the framework of oversight from Engineer Mohamed Said Mahrous, Chairman of the Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation.
Earlier, the tournament draw took place under the auspices of the organizing committee and in the presence of team representatives.
The draw resulted in Group A comprising teams from EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering, EgyptAir Airlines, Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, and Egyptian Airports Company. Group B includes teams from EgySport Holding, EgyptAir Navigation, EgyptAir Ground Services, and EgyptAir Services. Group C features teams from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, EgyptAir Ground Services, Aviation Sciences Academy, and EgyptAir Free Markets. Group D comprises teams from EgyptAir Cargo, EgyptAir Services, and Cairo Airport.
The reigning champions from last year’s tournament are the Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation team.
