Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company, Wael El-Nashar, conducted a field visit to Luxor International Airport and the Balloon Launch Site, where he reviewed the progress of development and efficiency improvement works.
He also inspected the readiness of facilities and services to handle the expected traffic, supporting smooth operations and providing a more comfortable and organised experience for passengers and tourists.
At the Balloon Launch Site, El-Nashar reviewed the work to improve and reorganise the site in line with operational requirements. The work aims to better organise balloon movements and entry and exit procedures, enhance safety, and improve the overall appearance of the site.
The work included the construction of a new entrance to the Balloon Launch Site, with a modern design suited to the nature of the location and the status of Luxor. Waiting areas, bazaars, and commercial shops were also developed and organised, while the site was equipped with surveillance cameras and modern lighting systems to provide a more organised and secure environment for tourists.
A 450-square-metre waiting area was also built and equipped with tables, chairs, and the necessary logistical facilities to provide tourists with a comfortable and complete waiting area before their flights. In addition, 37 designated balloon parking areas were created to help organise movement and make better use of the available space.
From the Balloon Launch Site to Luxor International Airport, the Chairman followed up on the expansion of the domestic departures area in the passenger terminal, providing more space and making it easier for passengers to move through the different stages of their journey.
On the airside, 12 new aircraft parking positions were completed, along with improvements to the taxiway, helping facilitate aircraft movement and improve operational efficiency.
The passenger terminal also received a significant share of the development work. El-Nashar reviewed improvements to the check-in and processing area, including the renovation of check-in counters, finishes, and lighting, giving the area a more organised and presentable appearance while facilitating passenger movement and completing procedures more smoothly.
The VIP lounges also received special attention as part of the development work, providing a higher level of comfort and privacy and offering a more refined reception experience for airport guests.
These works are part of the Egyptian Airports Company’s plan to improve its facilities and raise the level of services provided, in line with operational requirements for the winter season.
They also aim to ensure that Luxor International Airport and the Balloon Launch Site are ready to handle the expected traffic in an organised and safe manner, in keeping with Luxor’s status as one of Egypt’s major tourist destinations.
