The Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh El-Hefny, has congratulated the leadership and employees of EgyptAir following the national carrier’s recognition as “The World’s Most Improved Airline” for 2026 by Skytrax, marking a significant achievement in the airline’s continued development.

EgyptAir also climbed to 46th position in Skytrax’s global airline rankings, securing its place among the world’s top 50 carriers.

The airline recorded further notable results at continental level, ranking first in Africa for “Best Cabin Crew in Africa” and “Best Economy Class Airline in Africa”, while placing second among Africa’s leading airlines overall.

Its cabin crew ranking also placed it 20th globally in the corresponding category.

Minister el-Hefny said the results reflect the impact of the comprehensive development and modernisation programmes being implemented across EgyptAir.

He noted that these efforts form part of the broader national strategy to strengthen the competitiveness of Egypt’s national carrier and enhance its position within the global air transport industry.

El-Hefny praised the expertise, professionalism and dedication of EgyptAir’s workforce, stressing that the airline’s improved international standing demonstrates the ability of Egyptian talent to deliver measurable results in line with international standards.

He expressed his appreciation to the company’s leadership and to employees across its various sectors and subsidiaries, emphasising that the achievement was the result of coordinated efforts, teamwork and sustained collaboration throughout the organisation.

The minister highlighted that EgyptAir’s return to the world’s top 50 airlines represents an important milestone in the carrier’s ongoing development.

He noted that the achievement reinforces the company’s focus on modernisation, investment in human capital, technological advancement and the continuous enhancement of passenger services.

These efforts are aimed at strengthening EgyptAir’s competitiveness in regional and international markets, while preserving the airline’s longstanding reputation and supporting its expansion into new markets.

At the same time, they seek to ensure that passengers receive a consistently high-quality travel experience that meets evolving international expectations.

In conclusion, Hefny reaffirmed that the ministry and its affiliated companies will continue implementing their development and modernisation programmes across all areas of the aviation sector.

He underscored the importance of building on the progress achieved to further enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of Egypt’s air transport system and strengthen the country’s position as a major aviation hub connecting the region with international markets.
