flydubai, Airbus form partnership with 150-aircraft deal 13 - Egyptian Gazette

flydubai announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for the purchase of 150 A321neo aircraft, marking the airline as a new Airbus customer.

The deal, valued at $24 billion, was formalized on the second day of the Dubai Airshow 2025.

The MoU was signed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, and Christian Scherer, President and CEO of Airbus Commercial Airplanes, in the presence of Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum commented on the agreement: “We are delighted to announce this landmark agreement for 150 Airbus A321neo aircraft, which is a significant milestone in flydubai’s journey.

This strategic acquisition not only diversifies our single-aisle fleet but also supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and aligns with Dubai’s D33 economic agenda.”

He added that the addition of the A321neo aircraft will strengthen flydubai’s long-term expansion plans and enable the airline to play a key role in the successful expansion of Al Maktoum International Airport.

“The A321neo will support the next phase of our network development, allowing us to meet the growing demand across our markets. We look forward to building a strong and lasting partnership between flydubai and Airbus.”

The new generation A321neo aircraft will enhance flydubai’s network expansion strategy, allowing for more efficient and comfortable travel for customers reaching new destinations.

Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Airplanes Officer, welcomed the airline: “We are proud to welcome flydubai, one of the most ambitious and fastest-growing airlines in the Middle East, as a new Airbus customer. Their decision to invest in and introduce the A321neo into their fleet is a strong affirmation of the aircraft’s value in terms of range, efficiency, and passenger comfort. We look forward to supporting flydubai in its ongoing efforts to expand its network and operations.”
