As Egypt prepares for the much-anticipated opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has intensified its efforts to ensure that Sphinx International Airport is fully ready to receive international dignitaries and guests attending the historic event.
Dr. Sameh El-Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation, confirmed that a comprehensive inspection was carried out by the Supreme Committee for Scrutiny and Environmental Inspection at Sphinx International Airport. The committee’s mission aimed to verify the airport’s operational readiness, security efficiency, and the quality of services provided to passengers.
The inspection was conducted under the supervision of Montaser Manaa, Deputy Minister of Civil Aviation, accompanied by Pilot Bassem Bayoumi, Administrative Director at the Egyptian Airports Company, as well as a number of senior officials and technical representatives from the airport.
Upon arrival, the delegation was received by Ashraf Al-Sadiq, Director of Sphinx International Airport. The committee toured all key airport facilities, including both international and domestic terminals, passenger lounges, check-in and baggage handling areas, cafeterias, control tower, meteorological center, and security control rooms equipped with advanced camera systems.
The inspection also included an assessment of safety, security, and health protocols for airport personnel, in addition to reviewing environmental compliance and cleanliness standards across service zones. The team verified that all airport systems — from passport control to ground services — are fully operational and meet international standards.
Dr. El-Hefny praised the coordinated efforts of all working teams at Sphinx International Airport, emphasizing that the facility now stands as a modern gateway capable of accommodating the expected influx of visitors attending the Grand Egyptian Museum’s opening.
He added that the Ministry of Civil Aviation continues to prioritize efficiency, safety, and service quality across all Egyptian airports to reflect the country’s growing status as a regional aviation hub and a leading destination for global tourism.
