By Mohamed Attia

Minister of Civil Aviation Samah el-Hefney stated that the Egyptian civil aviation sector serves as a bridge connecting Egypt with its citizens abroad.

He noted that the ministry is implementing a comprehensive development plan aimed at expanding the air connectivity network to the top-priority destinations for the Egyptian community.

The minister added that EgyptAir is set to receive new long-haul Airbus A350 aircraft at the beginning of next year. This will allow the airline to expand its direct routes to cities such as Los Angeles, in response to growing demand, while enhancing operational efficiency and better serving the interests of Egyptians abroad.

El-Hefny asserted the importance of continuing communication with representatives of the Egyptian community around the world. He added that the ministry pays great attention to turning proposed suggestions into practical steps by developing infrastructure, modernising the fleet, and raising the level of services.

This comes during the reception held by Minister el-Hefny at the ministry’s headquarters for Raafat Saleeb Awad, Head of the General Union of Egyptians in America, and his accompanying delegation.

This coincides with the launch of the 6th edition of the “Egyptians Abroad” conference, held under the theme: “From Everywhere… Egypt is Home.”

The meeting witnesses a discussion on several issues related to the Egyptian community in the United States, most notably air transport services. The visiting delegation praised the remarkable progress made by the Egyptian civil aviation sector, particularly the expansion of the network of direct routes, the quality of services provided, and the facilities offered by EgyptAir to passengers traveling to and from the United States.

The delegation reviewed the importance of   studying the establishment of a direct airline between Cairo and Los Angeles in light with the growing number of the Egyptians in the US. This would contribute to facilitating travel and encouraging tourism and investment.

For his part, Raafat Saleeb Awad expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Minister Samah el-Hefny for the warm reception and for attentively listening to the proposals and demands of the Egyptian community.
