Head of the Board of Directors of EgyptAir Yehia Zakaria said that the company has contracted with a major Egyptian company specialised in supplying chilled meat to transfer 55 tonnes of refrigerated meat from the Chadian capital N’Djamena to Cairo.
In a statement on Wednesday, Zakaria said that a competitive price was presented to the cargo to guarantee offering it at suitable prices to the Egyptian consumers.
Head of the company Jasser Hussein said that the first cargo of the cooled meat arrived at Cairo International Airport on Monday, adding that two flights will be organised weekly from Chad to Egypt to transfer the rest of cargos until the end of the holy month of Ramadan with a total of 600,000 tonnes.
EgyptAir Cargo recently received the delivery of its first converted narrow body freighter aircraft, the Boeing 737-800SF. The jet arrived at Cairo International Airport in Egypt after spending the last few months in the US to be converted.
