The national air carrier, EgyptAir, decided to operate the first flight with environmentally friendly services and products, tomorrow from Cairo to Paris to be the first flight of its kind for an airline in the African continent.
Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar said that the Egyptian civil aviation sector is concerned with facing the effects of climate change through the existence of an integrated and sustainable environmental system that applies all local and international recommendations and legislations in the field of aviation related to environmental protection.
Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Amr Aboul-Enein said that the national company’s conduct of this flight with environmentally friendly services and products comes within the framework of the company’s social responsibility and its efforts to reduce environmental pollution and enhance awareness of the harmful effects of using “single-use” plastics.
He added that EgyptAir aims to reduce the use of single-use plastic on its flights by 90 per cent and EgyptAir has identified 27 products made of single-use plastic that were used on its planes and replaced them with environmentally friendly products.
On the occasion of the first environmentally friendly flight, EgyptAir decided to offer a special discount for this flight as it offered a 40 percent discount on this flight from Cairo to Paris.
EgyptAir operates flight to transport national team fans to Cameroon. The national air carrier EgyptAir, the sponsor of Egyptian football and the official carrier of the Egyptian fans, organised on Wednesday, its third private flight to Yaounde airport in Cameroon to transport fans of the national football team.
The national company had flown two previous flights to Garoua airport in Cameroon to transport a number of Egyptian fans to support the national team against Nigeria and Guinea Bissau.
