Jehan Fathy Hamed of EgyptAir has been awarded a PhD by Cairo University’s Faculty of Graduate Studies for Statistical Research for her dissertation titled “The Role of strategic planning in developing crisis scenarios for Airlines.”
The dissertation examined the key dimensions of strategic planning, particularly environmental scanning, and explained the role of each dimension in identifying risks facing airlines and developing plans to address them. It also explored the development of pre-planned crisis scenarios to help organisations respond effectively if risks escalate into crises.
The study recommended strengthening the role of strategic planning due to its importance in enhancing risk and crisis management within airlines and supporting the achievement of strategic objectives.
Fathy expressed her sincere appreciation to her thesis supervisors and to Essam Ali Amin, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Statistical Research at Cairo University, for his guidance and statistical support throughout the research.
