During the 11th Africa and Indian Ocean Aviation Week, Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation signed several strategic agreements to strengthen international partnerships, support regional growth, and share industry expertise.
Under the leadership of Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny, the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority reached key agreements with counterparts from the United Arab Emirates, Mozambique, Liberia, and the Arab Civil Aviation Organisation.
To support growing travel demand, Egypt and the UAE agreed to expand air transport rights between the two countries.
Signed by Captain Sameh Fawzy, Chairman of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, and Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, this agreement will gradually give airlines greater operational flexibility and improve direct flight connections between both nations.
Egypt also reaffirmed its commitment to African integration by signing technical co-operation agreements with Mozambique and Liberia.
The partnership with Mozambique, signed alongside Technical Board Member Engineer Jeremias Chitokueko, focuses on deepening regional aviation ties.
Meanwhile, the agreement with Liberia, signed with Director General Julius D. Dennis, establishes a framework for Egypt to provide technical support, offer specialised training, and share expertise to help Liberia meet global safety standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation.
In addition to bilateral agreements, Egypt collaborated with the Arab Civil Aviation Organisation to enhance media coordination, data sharing, and joint public initiatives across Arab aviation institutions.
To round out the event, Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority Vice President Pilot Mohamed Salah spoke on a panel about sustainable financing and safety oversight, sharing Egypt’s experience with aviation leaders and experts from around the world.
