Egypt hosts climate training programme for African agricultural meteorologists

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), part of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, has launched a training programme titled “Climate Change and Its Impact on Agricultural Productivity” for professionals working in agricultural meteorology across Africa.

The programme, which includes 20 participants, reflects Egypt’s commitment to strengthening co-operation with African nations, particularly in training and capacity-building in meteorology. Sessions began at the Cairo Regional Training Centre, an internationally recognised facility accredited by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), and will run until early December. A joint initiative by the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s EMA training center and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development, the programme aims to enhance the skills of meteorology professionals. Participants will learn to assess the impact of climate change on agriculture, mitigate negative effects, and develop strategic adaptation plans.
