Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh el-Hefny, and Minister of Transport Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir have overseen the signing of a major co-operation protocol designed to modernise and maintain runway infrastructure across national airports.
Executed by the Egyptian Airports Company and the Egyptian Company for Construction and Maintenance of Transport and Airport Facilities, the agreement focuses on upgrading main runways, service taxiways, and internal airport roadways.
The protocol was formally signed by Pilot Wael El-Nashar, Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company, alongside Engineer Sobhi Rabie, Chairman of the Egyptian Company for Construction and Maintenance of Transport and Airport Facilities.
This inter-ministerial partnership establishes a direct operational line to execute ongoing infrastructure updates, ensuring facilities align with the latest international civil aviation standards while optimising service levels for passengers.
Commenting on the initiative, El-Hefny emphasised that the agreement reflects the state’s strategic focus on pooling national engineering expertise and fostering inter-institutional collaboration.
He noted that leveraging domestic capabilities guarantees high-efficiency project delivery while strengthening overall airport readiness to accommodate rapid, projected growth in regional and international air traffic.
El-Hefny further highlighted that modernising airport infrastructure remains a vital strategic priority for the ministry, directly supporting national targets across tourism, international trade, and foreign investment.
By implementing modern technology, expanding capacity, and improving operational readiness, Egypt aims to bolster the global competitiveness of its aviation network and sustain a modern, future-ready transport ecosystem.
