By Mohamed Attia

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has stepped up preparations for the second edition of the El Alamein International Air and Space Exhibition (EIAS 2026), which will be held from September 8 to 10 at Alamein International Airport in New Alamein City.

Civil Aviation Minister Sameh el-Hefny said the event will provide an important platform for co-operation, the exchange of ideas and expertise, and the showcasing of the latest technologies in aviation.

He said hosting the airshow in New Alamein reflects Egypt’s efforts to position its new cities as international destinations for major events.

The event will also offer an opportunity to highlight the development of Egypt’s civil aviation sector, promote investment opportunities and strengthen co-operation with leading international companies in technology, innovation and knowledge transfer.

El-Hefny said the exhibition will bring together major companies and specialised institutions from the aviation and space sectors, allowing participants to exchange expertise, explore new technologies and develop partnerships and investment opportunities.

It will also help Egyptian companies expand their participation in global events and build stronger links with major international players in the aviation and space industries.

The minister stressed the need for close coordination among all relevant authorities and compliance with the highest operational and service standards to ensure the successful organisation of the event.

He said the preparations would also demonstrate Egypt’s infrastructure, organisational capabilities and readiness to host major international events.

El-Hefny said Alamein International Airport, which is expected to receive official delegations and participants, is an important part of Egypt’s airport network and a key priority in the ministry’s plans to upgrade infrastructure and improve operational efficiency.

The airport plays an important role in supporting tourism and travel, as well as development projects in New Alamein and along the north-western coast, helping boost the region’s position as a major tourism and investment destination.

A few days ago, Minister el-Hefny visited El Alamein International Airport accompanied by Pilot Wael el-Nashar, Chairman and Managing Director of the Egyptian Airports Company.

The visit focused on reviewing airport operations and final preparations to receive official delegations and participants in the event.

During the visit, the minister inspected the departure and arrival halls, baggage handling systems, boarding gates, security screening equipment and other facilities and technical services.

He also reviewed arrangements for receiving delegations and the procedures in place to ensure smooth arrival and departure flows.

El-Hefny was further briefed on the progress of ongoing works at the airport and instructed the relevant authorities to complete them on schedule while maintaining high levels of operational readiness throughout the event.

The second edition of EIAS 2026 will bring together major international companies and institutions from the aviation, space and defence sectors.

The event will showcase Egypt’s progress in these vital industries, highlighting its ability to host major international events in line with international standards.

The airshow will feature displays of the latest aircraft at El Alamein International Airport, as well as air demonstrations and participation by leading global aviation and space companies.

The event is part of Egypt’s efforts to strengthen its position as a regional and international aviation hub and a meeting point for policymakers, industry leaders and experts from around the world.
