Ahmed Adel, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company, held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of several airlines during the 82nd IATA Annual General Meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The meetings were attended by Rabab Hamdy, Head of Alliances and International Relations at EgyptAir Holding.

During the event, Adel met with executives from Etihad Airways, Riyadh Air, JetBlue, and United Airlines to discuss current and future areas of co-operation and explore opportunities for new partnerships. These discussions align with EgyptAir’s strategy to expand internationally, open new markets and destinations, and support the growth of air traffic.

He also reviewed the current challenges facing the aviation industry, future growth opportunities at both regional and international levels, and the importance of strengthening co-operation among airlines to support the industry’s long-term sustainability.

Adel also participated in the Star Alliance Chief Executive Board meeting, where airline leaders discussed updates on the alliance’s joint strategic projects.

In addition, he held meetings with major global companies involved in aircraft manufacturing, engines, leasing and financing, accompanied by Ayman Thabet, Head of Planning at EgyptAir Holding.

The meetings included Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer, where talks covered support for EgyptAir’s future plans as well as the participation of these manufacturers in the El Alamein  International Airshow 2026.

Adel also met with leading aircraft leasing and financing companies, including AerCap, BOC Aviation, SMBC Aviation Capital, and Avolon, to discuss financing options for new aircraft, fleet modernisation plans, and EgyptAir’s future aircraft requirements.

In the field of engines, he met with Rolls-Royce and CFM International to discuss ways to support the operation of the airline’s fleet.

EgyptAir recently regained its seat on the IATA Board of Governors after a six-year absence. The election took place during the 82nd IATA Annual General Meeting in Rio de Janeiro.

As a result of the election, Ahmed Adel was selected as a member of the IATA Board of Governors representing the Middle East and North Africa region, reflecting EgyptAir’s strong standing within the global aviation community.
