Sisi directs wider use of AI, cloud computing

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has directed the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing applications, the continued development of Egypt’s telecommunications market, the wider deployment of 5G services, and the strengthening of telecommunications infrastructure resilience.

The measures form part of broader efforts to improve public services, accelerate digital transformation, and reinforce Egypt’s position as a regional and global hub for data centres.

Egypt expands drug testing campaigns for school bus drivers

Egypt’s Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction has screened 915 school bus drivers across several governorates during the first week of the 2026/2027 school year.

Three drivers were referred to the Public Prosecution on charges of driving under the influence after their tests were found positive.

Hefny congratulates EgyptAir on global achievement

The Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh el-Hefny, has congratulated the leadership and employees of EgyptAir following the national carrier’s recognition as “The World’s Most Improved Airline” for 2026 by Skytrax, marking a significant achievement in the airline’s continued development.

EgyptAir also climbed to 46th position in Skytrax’s global airline rankings, securing its place among the world’s top 50 carriers.

Egypt’s Orfi to become youngest-ever world No 1

Egypt’s Amina Orfi will become the youngest-ever women’s world number one in squash when rankings are released on Monday, capping a rise that ‌has made the 19-year-old the leading figure in the sport just as it prepares for its Olympic debut in 2028.

At 19 years and two months old, Orfi will break a record that has stood since 1984, when New Zealand ⁠great Susan Devoy climbed to the top of the rankings at the age of 20 years and two months.

Egypt reaches African handball semifinals

Egypt’s national youth handball team (2008 generation) secured a spot in the African Men’s Youth Handball Championship semifinals with a 55–21 victory over Nigeria in the quarterfinals.

The young Pharaohs controlled the match from the start, delivering a strong performance in both offense and defence.
