President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with Algeria, its leadership and people, following the wildfires that have affected parts of the country, stressing Egypt’s readiness to provide any support required during this difficult period.

He extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

During a telephone conversation with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President Sisi highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries and praised the growing momentum in bilateral relations.

FM, US Special Envoy mull advancing regional de-escalation efforts

Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati on Wednesday received a telephone call from US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff to discuss the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions across the region.

Egypt extends condolences to Japan following deadly earthquake

The Arab Republic of Egypt expressed its deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the government and people of Japan, as well as to the families of the victims, following the earthquake that struck the south of the country and resulted in a number of deaths and injuries.

Fire contained at Egypt’s Damietta Port; no casualties reported

A fire broke out on a regasification vessel and a storage vessel at the port of Damietta in northern Egypt, the petroleum ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

Emergency teams and firefighting and security personnel responded immediately under established emergency procedures, the ministry said.

US issues new Iran sanctions on oil tankers

The United States on Wednesday ‌issued another round of Iran-related sanctions, targeting eight tankers and 10 entities, according to a notice ⁠posted on the US Department of Treasury’s website.

Six of the entities targeted on Wednesday were based in China, according to the notice.
