President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has reaffirmed the depth of the historic and longstanding ties between Egypt and Tanzania, commending the notable progress witnessed in bilateral relations in recent years, particularly following his visit to Dar es Salaam and the participation of the Prime Minister in the inauguration of the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project.
The project, the president noted, has become a prominent symbol of Egyptian-Tanzanian cooperation on the African continent.
GAHAR: Strong primary healthcare key to UHI expansion
Chairman of the General Authority for Healthcare Accreditation and Regulation (GAHAR) Ahmed Taha said that the sustainable expansion of Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance (UHI) system must begin with strong primary healthcare and facilities capable of delivering safe, high-quality services in accordance with unified quality standards.
The remarks came during a meeting between GAHAR chairman and international health expert and World Bank health policy adviser Sameh El-Saharty at GAHAR’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
Justice Min. receives Chinese delegation to discuss strengthening legal co-operation
Minister of Justice Counselor Mahmoud El-Sherif received on Wednesday a high-level delegation from the People’s Republic of China to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral co-operation in areas of mutual interest, particularly legal, legislative, judicial, and institutional affairs.
The Chinese delegation was headed by Deputy Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and Deputy Head of the National Supervisory Commission Yu Hongqiu.
Egypt condemns attempt to target Mecca
The Arab Republic of Egypt strongly condemns and unequivocally denounces the heinous attempt to target the holy city of Mecca, describing the act as a grave violation of the sanctity of Islam’s holiest sites and an unacceptable threat to the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, Egypt stresses that any act directed against Mecca constitutes a serious affront to the sanctity of religious sites and runs contrary to the fundamental values and principles of Islam, as well as the established rules and provisions of international law.

Students in Gaza ‘devastated’ after plan for them to study in Belgium fails
Students who are unable to leave Gaza and take up scholarships at Belgian universities have said they are devastated after Belgium’s government hit deadlock on a plan enabling them to leave the war-torn territory.
Ahmed Abujami, a 28-year-old doctor in Gaza, said he was “deeply disappointed” after Belgium’s five-party coalition government last Friday failed to agree on an evacuation plan for 13 students and researchers in the territory.
Abujami has a scholarship to do a one-year master’s degree in public health at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp. He hopes to gain skills and experience to rebuild Gaza’s shattered health system.
Discovery of seven women’s bodies fuels anger over femicide in South Africa
The discovery of the bodies of eight women around Johannesburg’s international airport, including five in the past week, has prompted an outpouring of fear, grief and anger over a lack of progress in tackling femicide.
When Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo did not return after going for a run on 9 September, her eight-year-old daughter alerted relatives, who contacted police. The 38-year-old’s body was found on Saturday and identified by relatives on Monday. The news of her disappearance had gone viral.
