Emergency teams were carrying out a major rescue operation in southwestern Algeria on Friday after a 10-year-old boy fell into an 80-metre-deep dry well, according to Algeria’s Civil Defence.
The boy, identified as Ayoub, fell into the narrow well in the village of El Roken, in the El Ghassoul municipality of El Bayadh province, while walking home.

Israeli strike kills 2 in south Lebanon despite truce
An Israeli strike on south Lebanon killed two people on Friday, Lebanese official media said, despite a truce with Hezbollah.
The strike hit near the strategic Ali al-Taher ridge, which Israel’s army said it had captured, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA). Hezbollah has not confirmed losing control of the area.
