No war over Suez, say Trafalgar Square protester

Sept. 19, 1956 — Thousands rallied in Trafalgar Square yesterday under the banner of the “No War over Suez” Emergency Committee, backed by more than 100 Labour, Co-operative and trade union bodies. Beside a stone lion on the Nelson Column plinth, a man in Grecian costume waved the Greek flag as another held a placard reading “NO WAR OVER SUEZ.”
