ISLAMABAD (AP) — The standoff between the United States and Iran deepened Tuesday as the U.S. declared it had blockaded Iran’s ports, Tehran threatened to strike targets across the region, and Pakistan said it was racing to bring the sides together for more talks.

6 ships turned around as part of Strait of Hormuz blockade

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – No ships have made it past a US naval blockade of Iran’s ports and coastal areas, and six merchant ships have followed orders to turn back, the U.S. ‌military said on Tuesday, providing the first details on a day-old effort ordered by President Donald Trump after peace talks between the U.S. and Iran broke down.
