Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said he and his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani co-chaired the inaugural session of a joint committee during a visit to Italy.
In a post on X on Friday, Abdelatty said the meeting was attended by several ministers and followed by an Egyptian-Italian business forum.
He also praised Italy’s position on the Nile water issue, particularly its emphasis on refraining from unilateral measures and avoiding harm.
Egypt, Bosnia’s Pretis sign defence industry co-operation MoU
Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production and Bosnian defence manufacturer Pretis signed a memorandum of understanding on co-operation in the defence industries, the ministry said on Friday.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the First Balkan Shield Defence Industry Expo and Summit, held in Sarajevo from September 1 to 4.
Egypt urges practical action to protect families amid global change
Egypt’s Minister of Awqaf (Charitable Endowments) Osama Al-Azhari attended the closing session of the 11th International Conference of Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta, held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The minister represented Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly at the conference, which brought together scholars, muftis, intellectuals and representatives of international institutions to discuss “Family challenges amid major transformations” and ways to protect family cohesion and identity.

Japan, Australia win World Cup openers
Saki Hayashi and Japan set records for three-pointers on the first day of the women´s basketball World Cup, while Australia also won its opening game on Friday.
Hayashi scored nine three-pointers to beat the previous record of eight as she helped Japan to a 102-97 win over Mali. Altogether, Japan scored 20 to beat its shared team record from 1994.
Heavy fighting in Yemen leaves at least 81 dead
Clashes between Yemen’s Houthi militants and government forces have killed 81 combatants since Thursday, according to a tally of figures from two military officials and medical sources in rebel-held territory.
A military official on the Red Sea coast reported on Friday 24 of his men killed, while another in the inland Taiz area said 15 had been killed there.
Trump threatens trade halt over Fed rate cuts
US President Donald Trump on Friday said that unless the Federal Reserve cut interest rates, he would stop trading with countries with which the United States had a deficit.
“High interest rates put the U.S.A. at a very unfair disadvantage, and I won’t allow that to happen!” said Trump, who has repeatedly demanded that the Fed cut rates.
