Trump tells UK and France US won’t be there to help

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday warned the U.K. and France that the U.S. “won’t be there to help you anymore,” as he vented his frustration over the close allies’ refusal to join military action against Iran. 

China, Pakistan call for start of peace talks as soon as possible

Chinese and Pakistani foreign ministers on Tuesday called ‌for an immediate ceasefire and an end to war in the Gulf and Middle East regions, urging peace ⁠talks to be held as soon as possible, Pakistan’s foreign ministry and China’s state news agency Xinhua reported.

Israel to destroy ‘all houses’ near Lebanon border

Tel Aviv – Israel will destroy all homes in Lebanese villages near the border and 600,000 people who fled the south will not be allowed home until northern Israel is secure, the defence minister said on ‌Tuesday, vowing to inflict Gaza-like destruction in the area.

Egypt, EU deepen partnership, focus on peace 

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati  received Charles Fries, Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service for Peace, Security and Defense, on Tuesday. The meeting came as part of regular coordination between Egypt and the European Union and a shared desire to strengthen cooperation.  

Schools closed Wednesday due to unstable weather

Egypt’s Ministry of Education announced suspension of classes nationwide on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The decision follows reports from the Meteorological Authority forecasting unstable weather conditions, including varying rainfall and sand-laden winds across governorates.  

Egypt advances IPO program for state-owned firms

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli held a meeting on Monday to review the latest updates on state-owned companies and the government’s IPO program. The session was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa and Assistant Prime Minister Hashem El-Sayed, CEO of the State-Owned Companies Unit.  

Alexandria revives heritage sites to boost tourism

Egypt’s Ministry of Local Development and Environment announced a comprehensive plan to revive heritage areas and boost tourism in Alexandria. Minister Manal Awad and Governor Ayman Attia inspected ongoing projects in El Gomrok district, including Mosque Square, the new Fish Market, and the surroundings of Qaitbay Citadel.  

FIFA tests new offside rule

ZURICH — FIFA´s proposal to change the offside law hugely in favor of the attacking team starts trials in the Canadian Premier League this weekend after failing to win support from European soccer officials.
