Dr Safa Abdo, an Egyptian nuclear physicist, certified nuclear security specialist, and international youth and climate trainer, has joined Impact Team 2050. The initiative serves as the International Youth Advisory Council to Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the Russian state atomic energy corporation, ROSATOM.
Impact Team 2050 brings together 13 young leaders from various regions and professional backgrounds who advise Mr Likhachev on youth-related issues in the nuclear sector. The team offers strategic perspectives and recommendations on strengthening youth engagement in nuclear science, energy, and technology, as well as strategies to attract the next generation of talent to the industry.
As a member of the advisory group, Dr Abdo has launched a Youth Dialogue in Egypt to address a key question posed by ROSATOM leadership: why do young talents often choose alternative career paths despite the green and high-tech image of nuclear energy, and how can this trend be reversed?
The initiative aims to engage directly with young people to understand the factors influencing their career choices. It also seeks to identify practical measures to make the nuclear sector more attractive and accessible to future generations.
Through the Youth Dialogue, Dr Abdo is incorporating the views of Egyptian youth into an international discussion, helping to shape new strategies for connecting young talent with the future of nuclear science and technology.
