Surgeons at Cairo’s Kasr Al-Ainy Hospital have removed a metal nail that pierced a 34-year-old man’s skull and lodged near major brain arteries, the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research said.
The operation lasted more than four hours, the ministry said, adding that doctors preserved brain tissue and avoided bleeding and other serious complications.
The patient was transferred to intensive care after surgery for further treatment and monitoring.
