Cleopatra Hospitals Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nahda University in Beni Suef (NUB), for the establishment of a joint scholarship program for eight NUB medicine students with a total cost of EGP 7,400,000 funding over the program’s five years period from Academic Year 2020/2021.

CHG’s contribution in this program amounts to EGP 5,032,000 over five years; covering 68% of the tuition and, while 10% co-payment will be paid by the awarded students. This initiative is part of CHG’s efforts in investing in education and supporting young cadres.

Commenting on this partnership, Cleopatra Hospitals Group said that this valuable cooperation with Nahda University aims to bring to the market a new capable generation armed with high-level education and practical experience through the pioneering NUB’s Faculty of Medicine. It is also fundamental to cater for the needs of students in Upper Egypt governorates, which is in dire need of support.

NUB will contribute with a 22% basic tuition fee discount amounting to EGP 1,628,000 over 5 years as well as the waiver of all extra fees and annual increases applied on students. The partnership with CHG will provide talented and bright students the opportunity to enroll in NUB’s Faculty of Medicine and lead the way with a new generation of professional calibers and healthcare practitioners. NUB has been exerting efforts in developing the Faculty of Medicine in collaboration with the Medical University of Vienna International (MUVI) to provide the latest educational system.

A joint committee comprising members of CHG and NUB will be formulated for the supervision and selection of awarded students according to the pre-set eligibility criteria. Preference will be given to students who are a graduate of Egyptian Thanawya Amma in the Academic Year 2019/2020 with a minimum score of 97% from the schools of Upper Egypt as the program aims to promote medical education and provide financial support to the less developed areas in Upper Egypt.

The joint medical scholarship program will be “need-based” for students whose financial situation requires support to enroll in the NUB Faculty of Medicine. Applicants must submit a social status report, proof of family income, a financial need letter explaining the family financial situation. The scholarship selection committee assesses applicants’ family financial positions and ensures that program funding strictly benefits low-income families. Students need to maintain at least a 3.4 cumulative Grade Points Average (GPA) to maintain their participation in the program and benefit from the annual funding.
