The Egyptian Academy of Fine Arts in Rome launched on sunday its new cultural season 2021/2022, themed “Egypt – Italy Culture and Civilisation – Common Horizons”.
The event was held under the aegis of the Egyptian Minister of Culture Enas Abdel Dayem.
The academy functions as a key bridge of communication between Egypt and Italy,and “golden gate” for Egyptian creativity to into Europe, Abdel Dayem said.
Since the academy was established, it has highlighted the mutual cultural and artistic influences between the two countries, the minister added.
Several Egyptian and Arab diplomats, as well as cultural advisors and directors of art academies in Rome attended the launch of the season, alongside a sizeable of audience.
The attendees voiced their admiration of celebrating the city of Port Said as the capital of Egyptian culture.
The event included opening an exhibition of historical documents on the origins of Port Said and the Suez Canal, in co-operation with the National Library and Documentation House.
The function concluded performances by Port Said folkloric troupe, affiliated to the General Authority of Culture Palaces.
