Egypt’s Minister of Culture Enas Abdel-Dayem and her Jordanian counterpart Haifa Najjar signed on Tuesday an agreement for cultural and artistic co-operation between the two countries.

Egypt’s ambassador to Jordan Sherif Kamal attended the event.

Abdel-Dayem confirmed that her visit to Jordan comes within the framework of the fruitful co-operation between the two brotherly countries, which enjoy strong and deeply-rooted relations.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and King Abdullah II stressed during their recent meeting the importance of developing cultural relations between Cairo and Amman, the Egyptian minister of culture said.

Abdel-Dayem said that cultural co-operation aims to create more interaction between the two peoples.

She indicated that the agreements signed with the Jordanian side would contribute to exchanging experiences and achieving more rapprochement between the two Arab nations.

Abdel-Dayem expressed happiness over Egypt’s participation in the centennial of Jordan, as it is the only Arab country in this event.

Welcoming Minister Abdel-Dayem, Jordan’s Minister of Culture Haifa Najjar expressed her delight at concluding this protocol, stressing the need to strengthen ties with Egypt in various fields.

Najjar said that the leaderships of the two countries share identical views on a variety of issues of mutual concern.

Egypt’s Ambassador to Jordan Sherif Kamal affirmed that this protocol comes as the culmination of the two countries’ cultural and artistic relations.

During a meeting with Abdel-Dayem on Tuesday, the Jordanian minister of culture said: “We are looking forward to constructive co-operation with Egypt in the culture and arts fields.”

“Art, as a soft power, is a means of rapprochement between the peoples of the world and a bridge for exchanging diverse visions and innovations,” Abdel-Dayem said during the meeting, highlighting the strength of relations binding Egypt and Jordan as well as the close links between their peoples.

The two sides agreed to mobilise all efforts to ensure the success of the desired cultural co-operation between Cairo and Amman.
