US rapper Travis Scott’s concert which was scheduled to be held at the Giza Pyramids has been cancelled, a source told The Egyptian Gazette.
He cited what he described as ‘security reasons’ for the cancelation of the concert.
Scott planned to hold the concert to release his new album, ‘Utopia’. The concert was scheduled for July 28.
News of the concert was at the centre of social media hype in the past few days, especially after all its tickets sold out in a matter of a few hours.
Some people launched a campaign of boycott against Scott, calling him ‘controversial’ and linking him with Afrocentrism, a trend opposed by Egyptians.
Other people made links between the American artist and satanic rituals.
Scott’s album is highly anticipated. His last album, ‘Astroworld’, came out in 2018.
The title of the new album was revealed in July 2020, when Scott uploaded an Instagram post with the caption ‘Utopia’.
