The awards ceremony for the 7th Youth Sculpture Competition was held at the Hanager Art Center on Friday.

The competition is held by the Adam Hanin Fine Arts Foundation.

Three artists won the competition. Iman Barakat,  first prize (LE50,000), Suhaila el-Nuwaishi won second prize (LE30,000), and Mostafa Rawash third prize (LE20,000).

Gamal Hosni, who is external relations advisor for the Foundation, said in his speech at the event that Adam Hanin was steeped in art and was fond of the Egyptian art as shown in his works, which are on permanent display in a museum in Harraniya.

Hosni added Hanin’s works were displayed in different places in the recent period. Three works were placed on the pyramid plateau in co-operation with Art d’Egypte, a platform founded by Nadine Abdel Ghaffar to promote Egyptian art and heritage sites.

This is in addition to a retrospective exhibition for Hanin entitled ‘The Journey’ at Aisha Fahmy Palace, which includes 250 works.

Also 33 works were presented in Riyadh by the Misk Foundation.  Also, his work The Legendary Bird was presented during the COP 27 Climate Conference in Sharm el-Sheikh last year.

His famous statue of Umm Kulthum was placed at the headquarters of the Opera House in the Administrative Capital and the statue ‘The Worker’ was installed in the Museum of Arts.

Hosni added that in the past year, Adam Hanin’s works were recovered from his studio in Paris and his artworks were digitised, whether those displayed in the museum or owned by the foundation, which recently acquired a new headquarters and outlet in Zamalek to show Adam Hanin’s works.

The headquarters will be open next year on the occasion of the ten-year anniversary of the opening of the Adam Hanin Museum in Haraniya.

Dr. Issam Darwish, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Adam Hanin Foundation, said in his speech that the past year witnessed a great artistic momentum in the foundation, including visits from high-level institutions.

“We insisted on recovering these works, which amounted to about 200 works in his studio, and we cast them and shipped them to Egypt,” Darwish said.

After the end of the ceremony, artist Farouk Hosni, former Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, opened the exhibition, which includes the works of the winners and finalists, at the Adam Hanin Hall of the Hanager Theatre.

The exhibition runs until April 5.
