Mexican Ambassador to Egypt José Octavio Tripp announced the 2022 cultural programme of Mexico in Egypt to a press conference on Wednesday.

“Cultural exchanges between the two countries will continue to be one of the main pillars in the bilateral agenda , bearing in mind that the two countries enjoy a rich and ancient cultural heritage,” the envoy said.

“Mexico will continue to promote its cultural diversity with initiatives that will significantly contribute to Egypt’s already bustling cultural life,” the envoy added.
The Egyptian Gazette learned that this year’s programme is to promote genuine human interaction.

“We are bringing some Mexican intellectuals and artists to Egypt, which is really attractive for intellectuals. This will help further revive and enhance cultural harmony,” the envoy said.

The Mexican Embassy is to host the first Mexican Novel Translation Competition in Egypt.

Muralism and paintings, a drone photographic exposition and an exhibition on climate featuring Egyptian and Mexican cartoonists are among the events this year.

Folkloric dance, a conference on the protection of cultural property, a film festival, book presentations and the world-famous Day of the Dead in November are among activities organised by the embassy.

The Mexican Embassy in Cairo is working with the Ministry of Culture, the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt, the National Centre for Translation, the International Organisation for Migration (OIM), the Italian Cultural Institute, and the Italian and Latin-American Institute (IILA).
