The Spanish theatre troupe Antzoki Teatteri is to participate in the 6th International Theatre Festival for the Youth of the South in Luxor.
The troupe will stage Clowns, which won an award at the International Festival of Independent Theatre in Alexandria last August. Cultural activities and workshops will be laid on by the company to attract a younger audience in Luxor. Later in Cairo, the troupe will hold a workshop for drama students and a performance of Clowns, which is an intense work using the language of the movement in a series of tableaux with a musical background. The play tells the story of a mother and daughter who are victims of domestic violence. Founded in Madrid in 2012 and now based in Barcelona, Antzoki Teatteri received Spanish Grand Prix for Dramatic Art in 2021. The troupe’s visit to Egypt comes within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding on cultural affairs signed during the visit by head of Spanish Government Pedro Sanchez to Egypt last December.
