Egyptian actor Amir El-Masry has been named to the Feature Film Competition jury of the 70th BFI London Film Festival, organisers said.
The festival will run in London from October 7 to 18.
El-Masry’s recent screen work includes the second season of Paramount+ series “The Agency” and a role in Apple TV+ series “Metropolis”, based on Philip Kerr’s “Berlin Noir” novels.
His latest film, “The Stories”, is currently in cinemas. It won the Golden Tanit for best film at the 59th Carthage Film Festival and screened in competition at the Red Sea International Film Festival.
El-Masry also stars opposite Pierce Brosnan in “Giant”, a film inspired by British-Yemeni boxer Prince Naseem Hamed. The film opened the fifth Red Sea International Film Festival.
At last year’s BFI London Film Festival, screenings of “Giant” and “100 Nights of Hero” sold out before the festival began.
