CAIRO – Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el-Wazir thanks President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s support for the Roubiki Leather City, saying the city has turned from a dream into reality with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s support to be the first specialised city for the leather industry in the Middle East and Africa. 

In his speech Monday – during the announcement of launching first phase of applying for ready-built factories in the Roubiki Leather City – in the presence of the Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, the deputy prime minister underlined the government’s support to the City, to render Egypt a regional industrial center for leather industry. 

Wazir said the city has a complete industrial environment keeping pace with the latest technological infrastructure, as its facilities, communication and marketing services are equipped with technological training, incorporating of the highest safety and protection systems.

He added that the city has a highly efficient external and internal road network, in addition to the operation of a railway line (10th of Ramadan – Belbeis), with a length of 63 km, to connect the city to the logistics area.

The dry port in the city of 10th of Ramadan and internal transportation was provided to transport workers from factories to the Roubiki Station, Wazir said.

Transportation lines were provided to serve visitors to the city, and all tanneries transferred from the Majra El-Oyoun area to the city were settled, he added.

He revealed that 21 tanneries with complete documents were delivered to their owners Monday, announcing the launch of the first group to streamline processes and procedures for applying for ready-built tanning factories, which includes 43 fully equipped factories through the Egypt Industrial Platform.

Wazir said the third phase of the leather city in Roubiki aims to enhance industrial capabilities, use modern technology, and develop production lines, in addition to encouraging and serving local and foreign investments in the leather industry.

He also indicated that the door will be opened to withdraw brochures and apply electronically on the platform, during the period from December 11 to 25, noting that the factories are characterised by different areas to meet the demands of all investors.
