A United Nations official said that Egypt is playing an important role in efforts to resolve the conflict in Sudan and bring the ongoing war to an end.
Li Fung, UN Human Rights Sudan Representative, told Al-Qahera News Channel that Egypt’s role is critical in attempts to reach a political settlement, calling on countries with influence to intensify regional and international mediation to help end the crisis.
Fung also stressed the need to protect civilians, allow humanitarian access, and address long-standing issues to pave the way for a peaceful solution. She described the situation in Sudan as one of the world’s largest displacement crises, with severe humanitarian needs and ongoing violations of international law.
