Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdel-Aati received UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova on Tuesday, for a farewell meeting marking the end of her tenure in the country.
During the meeting, Abdel-Aati stressed the importance of the longstanding partnership between Egypt and the United Nations, praising the role of the UN agencies and programmes in supporting Egypt’s development efforts.
The top diplomat also underlined Egypt’s keenness to boost co-operation with the United Nations in line with the country’s national development priorities and the objectives of Egypt Vision 2030, particularly efforts to advance sustainable development.
He also highlighted the importance of continued coordination between the two sides in backing efforts to resolve regional and international crises through peaceful means and in promoting multilateral action.
For her part, Panova voiced deep appreciation for co-operation between Egypt and the international organisation, lauding the country’s leading role in efforts to promote de-escalation and stability in the region.
She also reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to continuing its support for Egypt’s development efforts and strengthening the existing partnership in a manner that serves the country’s national priorities.
