ALGIERS – Ghada Waly, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna, had a meeting with Amar Belani, Secretary General of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who is on a visit to Austria.
They highlighted the negative effects of terrorism, smuggling of arms and drugs and human trafficking in Africa, particularly in the Sahel, on international stability and security.
The Algerian foreign ministry said in a statement on Thursday that the meeting shed light on efforts exerted by Algeria to combat corruption.
Wali stressed that the UN is fully ready to support Algeria’s efforts to counter corruption and drug smuggling.
