CAIRO — British Ambassador to Egypt Mark Bryson-Richardson said that Egypt’s first-ever victory in the FIFA World Cup represents an exceptional moment and gives the national team a genuine opportunity to continue its campaign and advance to the next round of the tournament.
The British ambassador, in a post on his Facebook page on Monday, said he feels extremely fortunate to be in Egypt as the country continues to write a new and remarkable chapter in its World Cup journey.
He added that it has been inspiring to watch this team with its wealth of talent and outstanding players and its ability to generate excitement among fans and win the admiration of followers not only in Egypt, but also in the United Kingdom and around the world.
Ambassador Richardson extended his heartfelt congratulations to all Egyptians on this historic achievement and wished the Egyptian national team success in its next match and in the subsequent stages of the tournament as well.
He concluded his post by stressing that what is being achieved today is a source of pride and optimism for what lies ahead.
The ambassador accompanied his remarks with a photograph of Egypt team Captain Mohamed Salah celebrating after scoring his goal in the match.
