CAIRO – Within the framework of the national strategy for the development of tourism in Egypt, the Tourism Ministry issued licenses to three Nile Dahabiyas (cruise ships) in accordance with the Hotel and Tourist Establishments Law No. 8/2022 .
In a statement, the ministry said the move aims at increasing hotel capacity and diversify its types in order to maximise the competitiveness of Egyptian tourist destinations and ensure the sustainability of the tourism product .
Mr Mohamed Amer, Head of the Central Administration for Hotel Establishments, Shops and Tourist Activities at the Ministry, said cruise boats are the kind of accommodation favored by a special segment of tourists who like to spend money to enjoy nature during their visit to the temples and archaeological sites in Luxor and Aswan.
