Egypt’s Minister of State for Military Production Major General Salah Sulaiman Gomblat held talks with the CEO of Secure Communications and Information Systems, at global technology group, Thales, Christophe Salomon on Tuesday to discuss the developments in their partnership and ways to expand cooperation.

Gomblat said the ministry is keen to strengthen cooperation with leading global companies and benefit from their technological and industrial expertise to develop the manufacturing capabilities of its affiliated companies, improve product quality and enhance competitiveness.

He described the partnership with Thales as a model of Egyptian-French industrial cooperation, particularly through the establishment of Thales Benha, a joint venture between Benha Electronics Industries (Factory 144) and Thales. The company supports technology transfer to Egypt, develops technical and engineering skills and helps integrate Egyptian companies into global supply chains.

The meeting reviewed progress of Thales Benha and opportunities to expand the partnership, including broader manufacturing activities, increased local content and opening foreign markets to products manufactured in Egypt.

Salomon expressed Thales’ interest in expanding cooperation with the Ministry of Military Production, praising Benha Electronics Industries’ industrial capabilities and qualified workforce.

He stressed that the Egyptian-French partnership focuses on knowledge and technology transfer and developing local capacities, while expanding cooperation to strengthen supply chains and facilitate Egyptian-made products access to international markets.

Both sides agreed on the importance of continued coordination to advance the partnership, localise technology, deepen domestic manufacturing and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian industry at the regional and international levels.
