Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) during an official trip to Egypt, praising the museum’s modern presentation and its collection of ancient treasures, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said on Tuesday.

Minnikhanov was received on Monday evening by Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy, who accompanied him on a tour along with Ahmed Ghoneim, chief executive of the museum authority.
The tour included the museum’s outdoor plaza, main hall, grand staircase and the galleries dedicated to the Golden King Tutankhamun, as well as the Khufu boat museum.
According to the ministry, Minnikhanov expressed deep admiration for the organisation of the museum and the “unique archaeological treasures” on display, saying they reflect the grandeur of ancient Egyptian civilisation.
He also commended Egypt’s efforts to offer a museum experience that blends authenticity and modernity, highlighting the quality of the display design.
