Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmy discussed with Minister of Trade and Industry Eng. Ahmed Samir ways to enhance co-operation between the two ministries and exchange visions on revitalising the air cargo movement for Egyptian exports, especially agricultural exports, in a way that contributes to benefiting from Egypt’s great economic potential, within the framework of the current trends of the state, which aims to increase exports and investments.

The minister affirmed the keenness of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and all its subsidiaries to provide all facilities and full support and to overcome all obstacles that would stimulate Egyptian exports and attract more investments, in continuous coordination with the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

The minister indicated that the interest in air freight comes at the top of the priorities of the Ministry of Civil Aviation to facilitate the movement of Egyptian cargo and exports, as Cairo International Airport ranked second in Africa in the field of air freight in terms of cargo movement during 2021, according to the statistics of the Airports International Council.

For his part, Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir affirmed the ministry’s keenness to facilitate the shipping and logistics transport system for Egyptian exports in general and agricultural crops exports in particular, which require special specifications for the shipping system.

He also pointed out that the current period is witnessing great coordination with all ministries and relevant Egyptian authorities to maintain markets and rates of Egyptian agricultural exports to foreign markets, especially in light of the global economic challenges imposed by the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and the coronavirus pandemic.

He added that EgyptAir is a major partner in providing the logistics transportation system for Egyptian exports to various foreign markets, pointing out that the meeting reviewed the air freight system for agricultural exports, especially with the start of the new season starting from the beginning of next October.
