Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi witnessed on Thursday the inauguration of Tahya Masr multipurpose terminal at Alexandria port.

The inauguration was attended by Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki, Transport Minister Kamel Wazir and a number of ministers.

The inauguration ceremony started with reciting some verses of Quran.

The terminal is one of the most important maritime transportation projects.

It includes trading yards extending over half a million square meters, and it is divided into 3 stations (containers – general goods – cars).

Tahya Masr terminal will up the rating of Alexandria port. It will be a green facility using up-to-date technology in shipping, stevedoring and trading goods.

During the inauguration of Tahya Masr multipurpose terminal, Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has directed to change Egypt into a hub for world trade and logistics services.

The government has laid down the bases for putting the president’s directives into effect, El Wazir said, noting that the Transport Ministry has worked on realizing strategic goals with the establishment of integrated development logistic routes to link production zones with maritime ports.

The logistics route of El-Sokhna-Alexandria is one of the most important ones, starting from El-Sokhna port on the Gulf of Suez and the Red Sea to Alexandria port on the Mediterranean and is linked by the first line of the high speed electric train, the minister said.

Sisi also stressed that huge amount of funds and efforts are needed for better state condition.

The president pointed out that great efforts have been exerted to establish further 18-kilometer docks in less than two years at the Alexandria port.
