President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi paid a brief fraternal visit to the Sultanate of Oman on Thursday, during which he held talks with the Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq.
According to the Presidency Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy, Sultan Haitham personally received President Sisi upon his arrival at the Royal Airport in Muscat, following his visit to the United Arab Emirates.
The Presidency Spokesman said the two leaders held expanded talks attended by the delegations of both countries, followed by a closed bilateral meeting and a working dinner hosted in honour of the Egyptian president.
President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s full support and solidarity with Oman in light of the current regional developments.
He stressed Cairo’s commitment to safeguarding the stability of the Sultanate and Arab states, as well as preserving their sovereignty, security and the resources of their peoples.
Sisi reiterated Egypt’s categorical rejection of any threat to the security and sovereignty of Arab states, describing Arab security as an integral part of Egypt’s national security and emphasizing the unity of the shared Arab destiny.
Sultan Haitham, for his part, underscored the deep-rooted historical ties and binding Egypt and Oman, as well as the strong bonds of brotherhood between the two peoples.
He expressed appreciation for Egypt’s steadfast position and continued support for the security and stability of Arab countries, praising Cairo’s active role in de-escalation efforts in the Middle East.
The two leaders discussed the latest regional developments, with both leaders stressing the importance of supporting efforts aimed at resolving the current regional crisis through negotiations, containing tensions and avoiding escalation.
Talks also touched on bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Oman, with both leaders expressing satisfaction with the advanced level of relations between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the visit, Sultan Haitham bid farewell to President Sisi at the Royal Airport in Muscat before the Egyptian leader departed for home.
