Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Monday made an urgent appeal to the United States, the European Union, and Arab nations to intensify efforts aimed at halting the war in the Gaza Strip, facilitating the entry of humanitarian aid, and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.

In a televised address on the situation in Gaza, President Sisi also made a direct appeal to US President Donald Trump, saying: “I hold deep appreciation for President Trump and firmly believe he has the ability to end the war and facilitate the delivery of aid. It is high time to realize this goal.”

President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s firm commitment to delivering the largest possible humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, saying: “Egypt has never taken and will never take any negative action against our Palestinian brothers. Our role has always been principled and honorable, and that will not change. We remain dedicated to resolving the current crisis, ending hostilities, and reducing tensions in the region.”

He stated Egypt continues to work toward increasing the flow of aid, supporting efforts to stop the war, and facilitating the release of hostages, as well as pushing for implementing the two-state solution.

He described conditions in Gaza as “catastrophic and unbearable,” stressing the urgent need to scale up humanitarian assistance to ease the suffering of civilians.

“Under normal circumstances, the Gaza Strip requires between 600 and 700 trucks of aid per day,” President Sisi noted.

The president added that since the outbreak of hostilities on October 7, Egypt has engaged constructively with its partners; particularly Qatar and the United States, on three main objectives: ending the war, allowing the entry of humanitarian aid, and securing the release of hostages.

The president responded to recent offensive remarks to Egypt’s role in the Palestinian issue by saying: “Given the ongoing speculation, I find it necessary to reaffirm Egypt’s long-standing and consistent stance: always advocating for a ceasefire, supporting the two-state solution, and working toward a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian cause. Our firm opposition to forced displacement stems from our belief that it would undermine the two-state solution and jeopardize the establishment of a future Palestinian state”.
